Utility Anchors

Due to rapid growth in digital wireless communications, AT&T needed a quick, cost effective m e a n s o f m o u n t i n g transmission/reception equipment in the St. Louis market area. Faced with the prospect of setting concrete foundations (forms must be constructed, holes must be dug, forms must be put in place, rebar set, concrete brought in and poured, concrete must cure -- all this weather permitting), AT&T began their search for something better.

AT&T ultimately decided to have FASTEEL® install the helical system because there was no waiting time to erect their equipment. The anchors used were 8" in diameter by 6' long (available in nine standard sizes), and were installed in pairs along with an equipment mounting frame, also supplied by FASTEEL®. The anchors, long used in the utility industry for supporting streetlights and transformer pads, have allowed AT&T to bring their technology to a fast moving market.
